Cabinet Approves Railway Projects Worth ₹20,800 Crore
The Union Cabinet sanctions eight major multi-tracking rail initiatives to boost national connectivity.
The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved eight major multi-tracking railway infrastructure projects on Wednesday, with a total estimated investment exceeding ₹20,800 crore. The mega infrastructure push aims to significantly expand the capacity of the existing rail network, ease operational congestion, and facilitate smoother freight and passenger movement across several critical trunk routes. According to the Ministry of Railways, the projects will collectively add hundreds of kilometers of new tracks, boosting regional connectivity and generating substantial direct employment opportunities during the construction phase. The initiative aligns with the government's broader long-term strategy to modernize national logistical networks and reduce overall transport costs for domestic industries.
