Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has entered the intensifying debate over the speed and safety of artificial intelligence development, arguing that increasingly capable systems must remain under human control and should be subjected to stronger independent testing. Nadella's intervention is significant because Microsoft is one of the world's largest AI investors and a major commercial partner in the development and deployment of advanced AI systems. His comments therefore represent an attempt to reconcile rapid technological progress with safeguards designed to maintain public trust. Nadella has argued that AI should be developed in ways that broadly benefit society and that companies should deliberately pace the development of frontier systems when safety and alignment questions remain unresolved.
