The United Nations warns of unrecovered casualties in Gaza, highlighting potential war crimes under rubble.
The global community focused heavily on the Middle East as the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Palestine made an announcement. A reported 8,000 bodies remain entombed beneath the concrete remnants of crushed city blocks. A fragile ceasefire took effect in October 2025. Since then, local civilian defence teams have laboriously managed to recover only about 800 bodies, working with catastrophic deficits of fuel, modern structural excavators, and safety apparatus.
