PublicSlate

Editorial policy

How PublicSlate reports and labels journalism.

Mission

We publish public-interest journalism for citizens. Accuracy, fairness and clarity come before speed or virality.

Sourcing

We prefer named sources and primary documents. Anonymous sourcing is used only when necessary and with editorial oversight. Wire or agency material is rewritten and labelled where relevant.

Labels

News, Stories, Research and Opinion are separate channels. Opinion and analysis are marked so readers can tell advocacy or argument from straight reporting.

Separation of channels

Homepage and section rails keep Opinion and Stories distinct from News. We do not pad empty opinion rails with wire copy.
